Manihi is one of the Tuamotu Islands' best kept secret. It is a coral atoll, just like all its sister islands. The interior of the lagoon is filled with pearl farms, which without a doubt build the island's main economic activity. Manihi is still and up to the day Polynesia's biggest black pearl producer. With a population of near 400, it still holds a castaway dream spirit in the air.
As in all other Tuamotu Islands, diving is big in Manihi, and most tourists that arrive in the island are divers (as most of its wonders lie underwater). There are no hotels in Manihi, only a few family-run pensions which make sure to hold the true Manihi spirit high by keeping its traditions alive: rustic hospitality, charm and unexplored endless coral landscapes.
